To persuade someone or a group of people, we need to follow "the reasons why" format. This format may be done in a variety of ways. The following two ways would aid in the writing process.
The first way, (the column way) can provide students a visual way to organize their thoughts. It is important for students to ask the WH questions as they proceed with writing their ideas. If students ask themselves "How?" and "Why" they can continue to ask the other WH questions to further elaborate on their ideas.

Topic 1

Why?
How?
When?
What kind?
How Many?
What if?

Topic 2

Why?
How?
When?
What kind?
How Many?

Topic 3

Why?
How?
When?
What kind?
How Many?
What if?
Another way students can organize their persuasive pieces of writing is to use the sandwich format. The graphic organizer for the sandwich is here or here.
