As a culminating activity for quarter one, students created final products to "show what they know" for quarter one. Below are just samples of the final outcomes.
Mr. Stracco's English 100 classes are now going global!!! We have made contact with students from the Oberstufen Schule in Montlinger, Switzerland. They have sent us a video of who they are and information about their school and we are in the process of doing the same!! Stay tuned for more news from room 211 and Switzerland!!!!!
Students in English 100 Examining the Renaissance has been the focus of the class as we have began reading Shakespeare's classic love story, "Romeo and Juliet". Embedded in this study are the themes of the tragic hero, unrequited love,and loyalty to family. We are also in the process of communicating with our pen pals from Switzerland.
Mr. Stracco's Public Speaking classes continue to hone the skills of writing and a presenting a speech. We have just completed the persuasive speech which led into in depth conversations and debates where the students had to defend their points of views. As the holidays approach, we are now beginning to develop and to present more ceremonial speeches that are usually scene during the holiday season.
About Mr. Stracco
Mr. Stracco is a graduate from East Stroudsburg University (1993) and Ramapo College (2005). He is currently celebrating his twelfth year at Rutherford High School. In addition to his teaching duties, Mr. Stracco provides professional development for the district, is the co internal coordinator of the Strategic Planning Committee, is part of the district Professional Development Committee, has presented numerous professional development seminars, was the class advisor for the Class of 2004, Class of 2005 and the Class of 2011, he also serves on the Assessment Committee for the high school. Recently, Mr. Stracco completed the necessary requirements to be an Instructional Supervisor in the State of New Jersey. In 2012, Mr. Stracco was recognized as Rutherford High School's "Teacher of the Year." Mr. Stracco was recently voted as the Vice President of The Speech and Theater Association of New Jersey (STANJ) .

Throughout the year, I want each student to learn to take risks, to grow through their mistakes, and to recognize his/her full potential through the use of collaboration, problem solving, accountability, responsibility, assessment, and reflection while using critical thinking skills, problem solving skills, communication skills , collaboration, creativity and innovation.
